Volunteer Opportunities

 

Stevensville Civic Club – PO Box 676- A volunteer organization that promotes the involvement of citizens of all ages in projects and activities, which enhance the quality of life in our community. Current programs include the Creamery Picnic, the 4th of July Pig-nic, Parade of Lights, Country Christmas and the maintenance of the Lewis and Clark Park. Senior Citizen Center – 100 Mission Street- Offering many social programs and services for area seniors, including bingo, exercise programs, pinochle, cribbage and monthly birthday parties. Lunch served 5 days per week Monday – Friday at 11:30am – Seniors $3.50 per meal and people under 60 yrs. $6.00 per meal. Stevensville Museum – 517 Main Street- Preserving our local heritage, the museum is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Volunteer opportunities include 2.5 hour shifts at the museum to give out information, grounds keeping and light cleaning. Help is also needed to organize the annual fundraising events: Used Art and Jewelry Sale in May, Yard Sale in June and Wine Tasting in September. Contact Chris Weatherly at (406) 531-6337 

Stevensville Community Foundation - PO Box 413- A non-profit corporation, the Foundation provides grants for community projects and programs, examples are the North Valley Library, the Senior Center, Stevensville Main Street Association and the Stevensville Museum. The largest project in the works is the creation of the Stevensville Community Center.  

North Valley Public Library - 208 Main Street- Having a community library is essential! Help preserve our library by donating carpentry skills for bookshelves and building refurbishment. Shelving, cataloging, and reading hours are other opportunities, as wells a helping with the Book Sales. Library Hours: Monday 12-7pm, Tuesday and Wednesday 10am-7pm, Thursday and Friday 12noon – 7pm, Saturday 10am-5pm. Historic St. Mary's Mission – 401 W. 4th Street- A valuable aspect of our local heritage. The Mission could use Volunteers April – October for grounds keeping, building maintenance and as tour guides. Hosts for the Visitor Center and Gift Shop are needed year round. The annual "Cow Pie Bingo" held in July during Summerfest is their main fundraising event to which you could contribute your time and talent. Contact Colleen Meyer at (406) 777-5734 

Stevensville Playhouse - 319 Main Street- Our local theatre produces a myraid of shows year round. The Chantilly could always use your creative talent to help paint, design and build the props and sets, create costumes, engineer sound and light, and oh yeah, can you act? (406) 777-2722

Genesis House – 116 College Street- A transitional home for women with mental illness, teaching them the life skills necessary to regain independence. Volunteer opportunities include driving the women to Riverview House in Missoula for job training, one on one mentoring and companionship. Pantry Partners – PO Box 804– (406) 777-0351- A basic need of life is nourishment, help the less fortunate in our community not only by donating non-perishable food items but also by donating your time to help organize, catalog and distribute goods. Open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11am to 2:30pm donations taken during business hours.

Garden Club- Help keep our community beautiful! Along with other outreach projects, the Garden Club takes responsibility for the Blue Star Memorial area in Veterans Park. Meetings held first Wednesday of the month. Contact Colleen Hoffman/President at (406) 273-3973.

American Legion-The world's largest Veterans Organization that is dedicated to serving our Veterans, Servicemen, their families, and Americanism Programs. Youth programs include: Bitterroot Bucs Baseball, Boy Scouts, and the National Oratorical Program, as well as many other activities in Stevensville, Florence and Victor areas. The Clothes Closet – 3862 ALC Way- A FREE store of recycled clothes, small kitchen equipment, and household linens. Hours: 1-4pm, Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, except Holidays or as announced, donations accepted Monday, Wednesday, Saturday 1-3:30pm. Winter hours: Wed & Saturday 1PM to 4PM.
