Well Field Update - 6/29/2019

Well Worker

Public Works reported at 4:00am Saturday morning that the reservoir was just over half of capacity. As of noon Saturday, storage had decreased and was holding at half. Pumps are producing approximately 400 gallons per minute.

Contractors had installed a new pump in a higher production well this week, however when startup was attempted Saturday morning, it was determined the motor would not operate and we had received a defective product. Replacement pumps for two wells will be available and brought from Spokane, WA on Sunday. Crews will then install both pumps and check their operation. That work will be completed by Tuesday and the Public Works Department will then be able to pull water samples for testing. Once test results are received, the pumps will be placed online and begins feeding the distribution system.

Officials are hopeful that water restrictions can be lifted Wednesday or Thursday, but residents should wait for notification from the Town before resuming normal water use.

The Town will also continue addressing the sand issues that exist in the well that has been down most of the year. A process called development and rehabilitation will occur in the well as early as next week. Engineers are hopeful that the process will improve the lifespan of the pumps that are placed in the well. The administration had not authorized a new pump in the well, due to potential of sand destroying the equipment rapidly.

Residents should continue to reduce water use as much as possible. While hand watering of plants is permitted, the irrigation of lawns is prohibited until further notice. The Town continues to appreciate the community’s patience and understanding.
